The Verve Pipe
The Verve Pipe has spent the better part of three decades in evolution, creating a sound that transcends genre and generation.
It's a sound rooted in pop hooks, alt-rock guitars, and the sharp songwriting of frontman Brian Vander Ark. A sound that's taken the band from the golden days of late-'90s modern rock — when The Verve Pipe enjoyed multi-platinum success with hits like "Photograph,” “Never Let You Down” and the #1 single "The Freshmen" — to the rule-breaking creativity of the 2010s and beyond, an era that's found the band reinventing itself with each release. With a reputation for spectacular live performances, The Verve Pipe continue to create new music as an independent band, maintaining their commitment to forward-thinking rock & roll with each new release.
Brooklyn songwriter John Brodeur adopted the Bird Streets name with the release of a self-titled 2018 LP. Produced by Jason Falkner (Beck), Bird Streets is a refreshing blast of classic-yet-modern melodic rock that received accolades from PopMatters (“a rock solid power-pop gem”) and NPR Music, which named Brodeur a Slingshot Artist alongside then-emerging talents like Phoebe Bridgers and The Beths.
For 2002's Lagoon, Brodeur expanded on the project’s collaborative foundation, enlisting contributions by Pat Sansone (Wilco), Michael Lockwood (Fiona Apple), Ed Harcourt, Aimee Mann, John Davis (Superdrag), and Jody Stephens (Big Star). Lagoon has been called "sublime" (Coachella Valley Weekly) and "an emotional tour de force" (Glide).
In 2025, Brodeur re-teamed with Falkner for The Escape Artist, a "paranoid guitar-pop" album, rife with themes of isolation and anxiety, with sounds spanning from claustrophobic folk to psychedelic indie. The AV Club called the album's "guitar-forward, Britpop-inspired" sound "as catchy as it is twitchy." Gina Romantini (The Wallflowers) and Zach Jones (Sting) make guest appearances.
A native of upstate New York, Brodeur began his recording career with the self-released Tiger Pop. He has toured with Juliana Hatfield, They Might Be Giants, and Fountains of Wayne, and performed with The Sixties Show and NYC institution The Loser’s Lounge.
