  • The Breaks

    Roberts • Walter • Moore

When three modern groove masters of modern funk and soul-jazz converge, sparks are bound to fly. The Breaks brings together guitarist Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), drummer Stanton Moore (Galactic), and organist Robert Walter (The Greyboy Allstars)—three musicians whose collective groove has shaped the sound of contemporary funk for over two decades.

Rooted in the tradition of late-’60s organ trios and hard-hitting boogaloo, The Breaks pushes the sound forward with deep-pocket rhythms, tight arrangements, and fearless improvisation. Eddie Roberts’ sharp, melodic guitar work dances effortlessly over Stanton Moore’s explosive New Orleans-infused drum grooves, while Robert Walter’s signature Hammond organ tones tie it all together with grit and soul.

Between them, they’ve logged countless tours, recorded landmark albums, and collaborated with a who’s-who of the modern jam, funk, and jazz worlds. But in The Breaks, the chemistry feels spontaneous—three kindred spirits locking into a groove and letting it ride.

From sweaty club sets to major festival stages, The Breaks deliver a sound that’s both deeply rooted and constantly evolving—a raw, joyful celebration of rhythm and musical conversation.

Gordon Sterling and The People: Soulful Echoes of Unity and Awareness

This is not just music; it's a movement – for, by, and about the People.

In the heart of the nation's capital, Gordon Sterling and The People, a Soul/Funk, Blues/Rock ensemble, have carved a prominent presence, regularly captivating audiences to sold-out performances.

Central to their music is Gordon's effervescent energy and deeply introspective songwriting, crafting waves of awareness around the lived experiences and perspectives of being Black in America.

From a visionary dream at the tender age of 15, Jamaican American Gordon Sterling received a call to awaken humanity to aspects of themselves forgotten, through the power of music. Embracing this mission wholeheartedly, Gordon embarked on a musical voyage that has spanned over 25 years, establishing his prowess as a revered singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

The band's debut album, "Truth," unveiled in September 2022, is a treasure trove of musical diversity, oscillating between soulful serenades and high-energy explorations. The album's standout track, also titled “Truth,” was hailed as the best Funk/Blues song at the 2023 Washington DC Wammie Awards.

Their music, steeped in themes of reflection, the nuances of racial identity, communal solidarity, and love, speaks volumes, offering listeners a compass to navigate their truth.

Drawing from the wells of jam rock, soul, and reggae, Gordon Sterling and The People's musical odyssey is an invigorating journey into the heart of what it means to connect, reflect, and love fiercely in an ever-evolving world. With every note, they remind us of the power of music to transcend, heal, and unify. This is not just music; it's a movement – for, by, and about the People.
