Kool DJ Red Alert (born Frederick Crute on November 27, 1956) is a pioneering DJ, radio personality, producer, and one of the founding architects of hip-hop culture. Born in Antigua and raised in Harlem, New York, he helped bring hip-hop from New York City to audiences around the world.

As one of the first DJs to gain national recognition on commercial radio, Red Alert's groundbreaking shows on New York's KISS-FM introduced listeners to the newest hip-hop artists and records, helping launch the careers of countless legends while shaping the sound of a generation.

For over 50 years, Kool DJ Red Alert has remained one of hip-hop's most respected ambassadors, earning numerous honors and lifetime achievement awards for his lasting contributions to music and culture. His influence continues to inspire DJs, artists, and fans around the world.
