Big Freedia & Friends

Recognized as the larger-than-life ambassador of New Orleans Bounce music, Big
Freedia is a nationally acclaimed hip-hop artist, TV personality, and cultural icon. The
Queen of Bounce made waves with her electrifying feature on Beyoncé’s
Grammy-winning hit, “Break My Soul” (2022), cementing her influence in mainstream
music.

Beyond her three critically acclaimed EPs—‘3rd Ward Bounce’ (2018), ‘Louder’ (2020),
and ‘Big Diva Energy’ (2021)—as well as full length, ‘Central City’ (2023), Big Freedia
has been featured on some of the most iconic tracks in recent music history. She lent
her signature sound to Beyoncé’s “Formation”, Drake’s “Nice for What”, and even
covered “Judas” for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary album in 2021.
This summer, Big Freedia expanded her musical legacy with the release of her debut
gospel album, Pressing Onward (August 2025), featuring collaborations with Tamar
Braxton, K. Michelle, and Billy Porter. The album, which reached no. 5 on the Gospel
Music charts, was critically acclaimed by Billboard, Rolling Stone, and NPR among
others.

Big Freedia’s ascension in the music industry was chronicled over six seasons in the
highly rated reality show, ‘Big Freedia Bounces Back’ from 2011-2016 on Fuse TV. A
brand new series, ‘Big Freedia Means Business,’ chronicling Freedia’s triumphs in
music, business and life debuted in 2023 on Fuse TV.

Big Freedia is known for her infectious energy and personality. In 2019, she was the
official host for the Met Gala IG Live Stream Red Carpet event and a host of 2021's Dick
Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve TV celebration. Known by her fans as the “Queen

Diva,” Big Freedia is a loud and proud advocate for racial and gender equality and
LGBTQ+ rights.

In 2021, Big Freedia was honored as one of Ebony’s Power 100 and she has appeared
on Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, NPR, The Breakfast Club, The Problem
with Jon Stewart, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The
Real. Her critically acclaimed 2015 memoir, God Save the Queen Diva (Gallery
Books/Simon & Schuster) was released in paperback in 2020.

The Resistance Revival Chorus (RRC) is a collective of more than 60 women, and non-binary singers, who join together to breathe joy and song into the resistance, and to uplift and center women’s voices.

MUSICIANS EXPLORING ACTIVISM AND ACTIVISTS EXPLORING MUSIC

Chorus members are touring musicians, film and television actors, Broadway performers, solo recording artists, gospel singers, political activists, educators, filmmakers, artists, and more, representing a multitude of identities, professions, creative backgrounds, and activist causes. The RRC centers women in music, and addresses how historically marginalized women have been in the music industry.

The RRC has been honored to perform with Kesha at the 2018 Grammys, on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, with Jim James, on Saturday Night Live with Nathaniel Rateliff, on The Late Show with Paris Paloma, at Carnegie Hall with Phillip Glass, Carly Simon, and Patti Smith, at the LA Philharmonic with Rhiannon Giddens, at Town Hall with Valerie June, at SummerStage with Angelique Kidjo, at The Apollo to celebrate Harry Belafonte's 93rd birthday, at Babefest with Ani DiFranco, with Natalie Merchant, with Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner from The National, Robin Pecknold from Fleet Foxes, with Reneé Rapp at All Things Go in 2024, with Big Freedia at Summerstage and Newport Folk Festival in 2025, and with Margo Price and Chaka Khan at Newport Folk Festival after opening the 2021 edition of Newport.

 

The RRC appeared at Outside Lands in 2021, and were the subject of Tribeca Film Festival documentary short, RESIST. We performed at fashion designer Gabriela Hearst's Spring/Summer 2023 New York Fashion Week show. The RRC curated and performed at a show co-created with The Public Theater, held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park featuring musicians and actors such as Valerie June and Indya Moore. We performed at the Roots Picnic festival in Philadelphia, 2019, as well as two TedX events.

The RRC was honored by Auburn Seminary at the Lives of Commitment Awards Benefit in 2018. We have also collaborated on a collection with Lingua Franca, and opened the 46th Presidential Inauguration virtual program.
