Murray Hidary
Within Murray Hidary, there are multitudes. He’s one of the internet’s first successful entrepreneurs. He’s an outdoorsman, engaging in activities like whitewater kayaking, paragliding through mountains, running marathons, rock climbing and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. He’s a visual artist with a passion for photography. And he’s a scholar studying theoretical physics, eastern philosophy and Zen buddhism.
What you’ll see when you buy a ticket to one of his performances is a one-of-a-kind experience that channels all these influences. Murray Hidary’s MindTravel is an “immersive music experience” built around his own musical language and journey. MindTravel is designed to evolve and connect to a higher sense of purpose while allowing experiencers to transform, celebrate and think.
The show is created by merging what Hidary considers to be the four pillars of an optimal integrated musical experience:
- Contemporary classical music
- Visual art
- Theoretical physics
- Wisdom traditions
Hidary has been refining this artform for years not only by incorporating elements from his multifaceted life but also the skills he’s gained from a lifetime of musical training. From the time he was five years old, Murray was playing music and began to develop his unique voice as a teenager. Hidary was then accepted to NYU to study music and theoretical composition and composed his first symphony at 30. But, it wasn’t until 2013, at the first Mindtravel show – in Murray’s living room – that his musical destiny was defined.
After the crowd’s emotional response to his first Mindtravel performance, Murray threw his passion into creating unique immersive experiences to share with the world.
